It is known that peripheral endothelial cell density (ECD) is nearly 10-20% more than the central ECD, more in the superior cornea. This video demonstrates the use of “Peripherally-trephinated (pD)” donor tissue in DMEK instead of centrally-trephinated (cD) donor tissue, with the aim of higher endothelial cell density in the postoperative period without altering the surgeon's standard technique.
